Lazy Days

Good Morning to all!!!

It's another rainy Sunday here in Sewanee - the 2nd in a row, which is quite unusual! Although sleeping in would have been the best way to commemorate a rainy Sunday, our children decided to wake us earlier than usual - 6:00 am!! Whew- so, G & I (mommy) made some pancakes while daddy and Eme took a nap. When Eme joined us again around 8:15am, she was bright eyed and bushy tailed. Daddy, of course, needed more sleep. ;)

I tried uploading a video but it did not work, so here are a few pics for you to enjoy!

Have a blessed Sunday where-ever you are! May the Lord give you grace, hope, and love this day. Bless His name!!! May you be encouraged by His Word this morning:

A Psalm of David.
"1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Abbo's Alley & More

This morning G, Eme, and I went for our daily morning walk. Just as we approached the "Doctor's offices" where our friends live, we saw the Patterson's pulling away in their van. Thankfully (esp. after climbing that big hill with both kids!!), they stopped to say hi. At G's beckoning, Katie decided to stay with us while the others went grocery shopping. It was a delightfully cool morning, so we walked for a while in Abbo's Alley & then came back to our house for lunch.

Our adventures in Abbo's Alley began with a search for the beloved snapping turtle who lives in the coy fish pond.....we didn't find him. Then we walked farther down the trail looking for & chasing "fake snake" (one of G's imaginary friends). We found the maze & explored it and looked in the stream for more fish and turtles.

After lunch, Mia, Dean & Laura came to visti and eat some chocolate chip cookies before going swimming. The Pattersons are our special friends who spend their summers in Sewanee too. Chip, Laura's husband, is in the graduate program with Chris. We enjoy getting to spend time with them at Sewanee!! I think Eme really likes them too!!

We love you, Patterson kids!!!!! Thanks for loving on G and Eme!!

Blink Your Eyes

Here is a little glimpse into the world of G and E...somehow, G is the funniest person alive, according to Eme!

Watch closely to see Eme blink at G's command!!!

Emelia Rose Clark

Well, here she is....our Eme! Yes, she has almost been with us 8 weeks now and I'm just posting a few pics of her!
What a doll she is and G just adores her....although he gets a little frustrated with us when he realizes he doesn't get all of our attention anymore. The transition from one to two is smoother than I expected at times and more challenging than I expected at other times. Overall, we are so blessed to parent these two people and praise God for the opportunity to be blessed by their lives!

Emelia Rose was born May 14, 2009 weighing 8 lbs. 9 0z. and measuring 20 1/4 inches (Thanks, AK, for the beautiful door sign and family photos!!! We love them!

Happy 4th !!!

What a wonderful 4th! Friday was a busy day for daddy as he was in class until 5pm, but mommy was able to enjoy a nice walk with Ashley and prepare for our special wkend visitor! One of Chris' professors, Jennifer Lewin, provided an equisite meal to her students and families. What a delight to have healthy, scrumptious food AND home-made peach & coconut ice cream! What a great way to start our July 4th weekend!

Saturday begin slowly as daddy slept in cuddling his baby girl for a morning nap. Mommy went for a refreship jog with Ashley while G enjoyed some one-on-one time with Nana. Our 4th of July celebration here in Sewanee wasn't complete without enjoying the annual "Mutt Show" including 65 dogs (a record year, I hear!), the Sewanee parade where, yes - my child got CANDY, scouting out the arts & crafts show which included 44 vendors, and much more!

Our special guest was none other than Chris' mom, affectionately known as "Nana."

We were so thankful for her to visit us here and for her to experience Sewanee with us. What a joy and blessing she is to us and to our children!

Thank you, Nana, for taking time to come and see us!
G "helpling" push the jogger (he WAS in there!)

This was the School of Letters "float" where daddy's classmates dressed as their "favorite authors." G was especially excited to watch the floats, but mainly to pick up any candy and items thrown to him!!! It was cute that he picked up one piece of candy at a time and put it into his baseball bag before fetching another piece. Oh, and I did not get a photo of G when the police cars and firetrucks roared past (I was too busy covering Eme's ears)...but yes, Uncle Stevie, you should be proud that he LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the sirens!!!!

Sunday was a lazy day as it rained ALL DAY (the first this summer)!!! Daddy cooked us yummy pancakes and eggs for b'fast and we stayed in our PJs all day until dinner! Oh, and to top off a wonderful weekend with Nana,

Uncle Scott dropped by on his way home to Atlanta to enjoy fellowship, deliver delectable produce, hang out with his niece & nephew, eat a delicoius meal (thanks to Cecilia Hammond) and play a superb game of Settlers of Catan (of which there were no winners). .
Partners in Crime??
We truly had a wonderful time with friends and family!!! We hope that your 4th of July celebration was fun filled too! We are truly thankful for our "independence & freedom."

Oh, what fun in Tupelo!

NOTHING COMPARES TO A DAY WITH YANA AT SCHOOL...and "jogging" for a great cause!!!
G and I arrived in Tupelo Thursday evening. After a delicious dinner prepared by Yana, cousin Kelso, AK, and Jay came to see us! We enjoyed playing...and eating more food, of course!!!
Friday, Garrett and I began our day with a simply breakfast and playtime at Yana's house before visiting Yana at the elementary school where she is the Media Specialist, aka: Librarian (mom, did I get that title right?). We were in for a great time because today the students were walking for a great cause - to combat obesity in children. G and Yana walked and "jogged" according to Garrett. There was even Elvis music playing which kept the students treking along! What a beautiful day for walking!
Still "jogging"....racing to the end! As all the other children lined back up in their classes, G kept looking around for his class!! Too cute!! He told Yana as they were running, " I a children! " He definitely doesn't see himself as 'just' 2 !!!!
How sweet they were to give him water and a medal; after all he did complete all four rounds walking! Here are a few clips of G at school.

Next, we went to AK and Jay's house to visit with Uncle Daniel and Heidi, who had been in Tupelo for a week visiting friends and family.

G warmed up quickly and showed us how much he likes his Uncle Daniel! He even cried when he couldn't find him around the house (he had gone into his bedroom and closed the door)...G came to me crying for Daniel! How sweet!

Jay, AK, Kelso, G and I went to Sweet Peppers Deli for a mid afternoon snack. Here is Kelso and G dancing to the sound of the music there! How fun!

We also had a great time Saturday cooking out and visiting briefly with Uncle Kenneth and Aunt Jennie. I didn't do a great job of taking pics the rest of the weekend, so we'll have to update with more pics from AK's camera soon!! Kenneth, we are so sorry that you are sick and we hope you are feeling much better now!!! We look forward to seeing you and Jennie again! Oh, and also, a big CONGRATULATIONS on the upcoming arrival of your baby girl!!!!!! We can't wait to buy pink!

Oh, and Kelso's christening was Sunday so we'll have to get those pics up asap!!!!

Thank you,Daniel and Heidi, for coming to visit. We enjoyed spending QT with you! We miss you dearly and are so thankful for the times we do get to see you!! We hope to come out to Colorado sometime in the near future to visit YOU!! Here we are at the Memphis airport just bf we got run away by the security guards! (36 weeks pregnant here!!)
